Nike Sues The Maker Of Unofficial Lil Nas X ‘Satan Shoes’ For Trademark Infringement

Published on

Recently the Old Town Road rapper Lil Nas X in collaboration with MSCHF released a pair of ‘Satan Shoes’ which was revealed to contain a drop of human blood donated by 6 employees of the company.

After a huge uproar from the online community, Nike cleared themselves stating that they are not affiliated with Lil Nas or the brand MSCHF in any form.

But now Nike is suing the company behind the Lil Nas X “Satan Shoes” after major backlash on social media. The company filed a lawsuit on Monday accusing MSCHF Product Studio, Inc. of trademark infringement over the Satan Shows. All the 666 pairs available for sale were sold out on Monday itself.

Nike asked the court to order MSCHF to “permanently stop” fulfilling orders for the “unauthorized” Lil Nas X Satan Shoes. The lawsuit also turned the attention of the court that social media users have threatened to boycott Nike over the controversial shoes.

“MSCHF and its unauthorized Satan Shoes are likely to cause confusion and dilution and create an erroneous association between MSCHF’s products and Nike,” Nike said in its complaint. “In the short time since the announcement of the Satan Shoes, Nike has suffered significant harm to its goodwill, including among consumers who believe that Nike is endorsing satanism.”

As of now MSCHF has not responded to comments about the lawsuit. Also surprisingly there is no mention of Lil Nas X in the lawsuit.
