Vanessa Bryant has publicly criticised Meek Mill for a disrespectful reference of her late husband, the basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
Rapper Meek Mill’s unreleased song titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)” was leaked last week. The rapper made a reference to the legendary Kobe Bryant, who died last year in a helicopter crash. But Kobe’s wife found the lyrics to be insensitive.
The lyrics of the song Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe) read as “This b—- I’m f—in’ always tell me that she love but she ain’t ever showed me,” Mill raps. “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”
The whole internet community stood against the disrespectful lyrics and Meek Mill faced severe backlash.
After the backlash on Twitter, calling out Meek Mill on Instagram, Vanessa said the line was “extremely insensitive and disrespectful”. “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this,” she wrote on her Instagram story on Monday.
“If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
Soon after Vannesa condemned Mill, the rapper responded with two tweets of which one was deleted soon after. “[I don’t] trust people gotta play it raw,” he wrote. “I’m going back savage in this s— … f#%k ya feelings!”
Later Mill revealed that he has apologized Vanessa in private. “Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman!” he tweeted early Tuesday morning. “If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”
