Social media giant Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth took a tool as he lost almost $7 billion in mere hours after Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram suffered a major global outage on Monday evening.

The social media platforms, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram were not working as reported by many of its users globally. This outage caused major losses to the firm.

According to a Bloomberg report, Mark slipped to the 5th spot in the richest list of the world as Facebook stock tanks. Currently Zuckerberg is reported with total wealth of $121.6 billion, placing him being Bill Gates. Prior to this incident he was sitting at the 3rd spot on the globe.

After the outage, number of companies have pulled off their advertising from Facebook Inc.’s network. This incurred major losses to the social media companies like WhatsApp, Instagram and messenger. Ultimately resulting in the fall of the stock price of their parent company.

Earlier today, Mark Zuckerberg responded to the global social media outage on Twitter. The CEO has offered a personal apology to millions of its users worldwide and assured that the services will soon resume as they are working on the issue.

“Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger are coming back online now. Sorry for the disruption today — I know how much you rely on our services to stay connected with the people you care about,” he wrote in the tweet.

Microblogging platform Twitter was flooded with the global outage tweets as it remained the only popular platform for the users.
