Former Pakistani player and bowling coach, Waqar Younis has been receiving a lot of criticism for making ‘namaz’ comments after Pakistan’s win against India last Sunday.

After Pakistan recorded their first ever World Cup victory against India, he was interviewed by news channel. He mentioned that it was special for him to see wicketkeeper Rizwan offering Namaz during drinks break.

After this many netizens, cricketers and even Pakistani citizens criticized Waqar for making such remarks, he issued a statement apologizing for his comments. “In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many.”

“I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unite people regardless of race, colour or religion. #apologies,” tweeted Waqar last night.”

Along with former cricketers like Aakash Chopra, Wasim Jaffer and cricket expert Harsha Bhogle also expressed their disagreement with Waqar’s comments.

YouTube star Flying Beast also expressed his disgust towards the matter. He pointed out that Waqar was sitting comfortably in the news studio and still stated in his apology that it was in the heat of the moment.
