The star host of American talk show, Ellen DeGeneres will end her Emmy-winning daytime talk show after 19 years according to a report. With the show being scrutinized for allegations of sexual misconduct and toxic workplace atmosphere, Ellen earlier hinted that she is ready to end the show.

On May 11 she informed this decision to her staff and will sit down with longtime pal and daytime predecessor Oprah Winfrey to discuss the news on Ellen‘s May 13 show.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” sharing about this news in public to The Hollywood Reporter.

This news came with the announcements of the 19th season of the show which will be the last season. She was quoted saying, “If you’ve been watching this show, and I trust that you have, you know that a few weeks ago we celebrated our 3000th show. 3000 shows! So, that means as of today, we’ve done 3000 shows, plus 14, which is um…3000, plus 14 shows. I know, it’s a lot. And today, I have an announcement to make. Today, I’m announcing that next season, Season 19, is going to be my last season.” 

When asked about the reason for shutting the show down, she aid in an interview , “You may wonder why I’ve decided to end after 19 seasons. The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me it’s time. “

Ellen Lee DeGeneres is an American comedian, television host, actress, writer, and producer. She has been hosting her own talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, since 2003.
