Doctor Strange 2 Obliterates Weekend Box Office

Marvel’s domination over the film industry has been commented on by many critics. The sequel of Doctor Strange has earned $450M on the box office opening weekend.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally hit theatres after being delayed due to the pandemic. The movie has delighted fans of Marvel all over the world. Some critics have pointed out the tragic significance of the popularity of such films. Directed by Sam Raimi, Benedict Cumberbatch has returned as the titular figure. In an interview, Sam said, “I like the fact that he’s a flawed character, the way Benedict has been portraying him. How Marvel movies have been presenting him.”

Adding, “I like the fact that he’s a little proud, and his ego has grown. He’s the kind of guy that thinks he’s the only one that can do this job precisely as it’s got to be done. For myself, I think allowing some area of the frame to be black or unknown, to let the audience use their own imagination in crafting the finished monster. So it’s collaboration between director and audience in making the fear happen.”

As per the reports, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has grossed $185M in Canada and US. The new Marvel film has also earned $265M at the global box office which has brought its total to $450M and it is projected to earn much more. However, Hollywood has many movies on its schedule this summer that could help theatres bring in audiences. The forthcoming films that could also be blockbuster include Top Gun: Mavericks and Jurassic World: Dominions.
