George Trebek the host of the game show ‘Jeopardy!’ died at the age of 80. Trebek fought a very public fight against pancreatic cancer for nearly two years but continued taping his program without any excused until recently.
His demise was announced by the official Twitter account of ‘Jeopardy!’ as they were saddened by the news and wrote that “Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex.” They thanked him for all the good times he brought in the show.
Trebek first announced on the air in March 2019 that he had been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. In the video, Trebek said that he wants to fight and beat this disease.
“Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer,” Trebek said.
George Trebek was a Canadian-American television personality and game show host. He was well-known as the host of ‘Jeopardy!’ for consecutive 36 years from 1984 until his death in 2020. He also hosted numerous other game shows which include The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare, High Rollers, Battlestars, Classic Concentration, and To Tell the Truth.

He was the heart and soul of Jeopardy! and he will be deeply missed by everyone who made him part of their lives. Our hearts go out to Jean, Matthew, Emily, and Nicky.”
