$300K Bored Ape NFT Sold For $3K Due To Typo

Published on

A measly fat-finger error led to an online trader selling his precious Bored Ape NFT at a 99% loss. As per the reporters, the NFT having an actual price of more than $300,000 was sold at one-hundredth of its price.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10,000 NFTs with each having different traits and visual attributes. Though it may sound strange to many, just a single NFT from the collection cost more than hundreds of dollars and is still climbing the price charts.

With the likes of rapper Future, Post Malone, Jimmy Fallon and Steph Curry stepping into this collection, its floor price is currently more than 50 Ethereum coins amounting to almost $200,000.

The NFT owner Max listed his Bored Ape NFT for sale on Saturday revealed that he meant to price the NFT at 75 ether (around $300,000) but accidentally typed 0.75 ether instead (roughly $3,000).

Before he realized his mistake, a bot programmed to find and buy undervalued listings, snapped the NFT from him. Max revealed that the bot even paid gas fees of over 8 Eth ($34,000) to get the transaction quickly go through. This is how his $250,000 vanished in thin air.

In the world of blockchain, there is no way to get the money back. In a tweet he wrote, “

Sometimes you fuck up, make a bad buy, out of gas fail, send Eth to the wrong wallet or fat-finger a listing. It’s going to happen. But, letting it occupy your mind for even one second after you can no longer affect the outcome is purely hurting yourself twice.”
