Punjabi singer who rocked the internet when India did not even have proper network infrastructure, Yo Yo Honey Singh is accused of domestic violence by his wife Shalini Tanwar.
The rapper’s wife has filed a physical and mental abuse case against him and is seeking a Rs 10 crore compensation under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
In the statement during filing the complaint she felt like a farm animal being subjected to cruelty.
Shalini’s lawyer revealed that the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Singh has issued a notice to popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh directing him not to alienate or create any third party rights in their jointly owned property in Noida or dispose of his wife’s jewellery and other articles as reported by ZeeNews India.
Shalini mentioned that she was subjected to numerous instances of physical, verbal, mental, and emotional abuse from her husband as well as his family.
She claimed that she had been physically harmed multiple times and is constantly living under fear. “Due to mental harassment and cruelty imposed upon her over a period of time, she also suffered from symptoms of depression and sought medical help,” she stated in the plea.
Shalini stated that she was so broken mentally and emotionally that she started identifying herself as a “farm animal, shepherded from here to there while being treated cruelly”.
If this was not enough of suffering, she revealed that once her father-in-law walked in drunk while she was changing. He grazed her hand over her chest.
Singh’s wife further claimed that she has evidence to show various incidents of domestic violence on her. She requested the court to order the singer to pay a rent of Rs 5 lakh every month for fully furnished accommodation in Delhi.
This was sought by her to help her live by herself and not remain dependent on her widowed mother. Shalini also sought a restraining order from selling her dowry articles.
