While American rapper Travis Scott was getting geared up for his live-in-concert in Texas in the United States of America, little did he know his concert would cause chaos leading to deaths of his fans.
At his Astroworld Music Festival on Friday night in the state of Texas at least eight people were found dead and several were wounded in the crowd surge, as reported by authorities.
Houston fire chief Samuel Pena in a statement said that the panic among crowd began at around 9 pm when “the crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage”.
“That caused some panic and it started causing some injuries, people began to fall out, become unconscious and it created additional panic,” Pena added.
“We transported 17 patients to the hospital… 11 of those that were transported were in cardiac arrest,” he said.
Panic broke out as crowd started to press towards the front of the stage. It was further followed by people falling unconscious which just increased the panic among the attendees.
As of now the reason for the death of eight has still not been confirmed but would be known only after a thorough medical examination. The seventeen people recorded to be taken to a nearby hospital, eleven of which are reported to suffered a cardiac arrest.
Approximately 50,000 people present at the music festival which now stands cancelled with staying put on Saturday as well. There are no indications of the festival being rescheduled or cancelled altogether yet.
