The British reality TV star Tommy Fury has finally turned towards the media with a statement to reveal the reason behind his sudden withdrawal from the much-awaited boxing match against YouTube celebrity Jake Paul.
After rumours going around about the cancellation of the fight, Jake Paul himself took to the internet to confirm the news about Fury dropping from the bout. However, the fight will still go on as the YouTube star managed to get his last opponent Tyron Woodley onboard for the fight.
Paul was still pretty vague on details and claimed that it was just the pressure of such a massive fight that made Fury ‘chicken out.’ Fury’s team cleared all the doubts regarding the withdrawal.
In a statement shared via promoter Frank Warren, Tommy Fury revealed that he has a chest infection and a broken rib which has hampered his preparation.
“I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib,” Fury said.
“The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18th. I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to happen more than anything.”
“I’m now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date,” he concludes expecting a rescheduled match with the YouTube star.
