For a long time creators were known just to make content for the viewers and on the basis of numbers they have they will be getting brand deals. These brand deals usually included upfront paid promotions, affiliate deals or to create advertising material for the company.
But now things seem to change are people are getting financially literate. Influencers who play as role model for the masses haven grown from solely being a creator and accepting promotions to being an angel investor and actually being a part of the startup.
Tanmay Bhat 32-year old is an Indian stand-up comedian who recently entered the gaming world and also vlogging on his YouTube channel. He also hosts a financial podcast where he explains difficult terms quite easily. Seems like trying out his hands on new and different ventures.
On the other side 26 year old fitness icon Ranveer Allahbadia popularly as Beer Biceps is known for fitness, lifestyle, grooming, motivation, career advice and entrepreneurship videos on his YouTube channel.
Now both the creators have turned form creators to angel investors. To all who are unfamiliar with this term, angel investors are those who invest anywhere between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 20 lakh in early-stage funding rounds of a new business for a part ownership.
Last week, both of these creators announced their angel investments in the platform that helps creators monetise their followers named Qoohoo and an American beauty brand Ready Set Jet respectively.
This move was praised by many entrepreneurs and founders who also mentioned that this will play as an important step towards bringing a wave of creators to being angel investors. A few of the key advantages and disadvantages were shared by Economic Times of turning from creator to investor.
