Recently rumours have been circulating that the social media giant Facebook holds the mighty cryptocurrency Bitcoin. Though there was no official proof that Facebook holdy any amount of Bitcoin.

The rumour was started by investor and CIO of the Atlanta Digital Currency Fund, Alistair Milne on Twitter causing a major stir on the social media platform. 

“RUMOUR: Facebook will announce they hold #Bitcoin on their books when they release their quarterly results after trading closes tomorrow,” said Milne in the tweet.

Many questioned the rumour but others considered it to make sense as the tech conglomerate tried to push its own presence in the crypto space with the Libra Project in 2019 which was then failed and rebranded as Diem.

But in the end the rumours were just rumours. Even though Facebook managed to exceed all the expectations with its strongest ever first quarter earnings this evening, it did not line up with the  expectation of it holding Bitcoin.

This much anticipated reveal did not come through causing Bitcoin to tumble.
