Dilin Nair, popularly known by his stage name Raftaar, is an Indian rapper and songwriter with numerous hits throughout his career. He’s one of the most respected personalities in Indian Music community. He is always known to help other rappers to grow.
Recently, Krsna rapper shared a tweet where he has alleged that the IPL anthem 2020 Aayenge Hum Wapas has been plagiarised from his 2017 rap song Dekho Kaun Aaya Wapas.
But the claim has been dismissed by the IPL anthem composer Pranav Ajayrao Malpe as “completely false”. Also, the Music Composers Association of India (MCAI) has stated that these two songs are different.
Raftaar stood up to this and uploaded a series of stories on Instagram where he talked about the issue. He addressed the audience saying, “I understand where they are coming from and their logic as well. But they are not aware about this style of music, and naturally don’t understand the technicalities of it. It’s therefore important, that someone from our community (of rappers) is a member of their decision making team, who can help them reach the truth.”
He also requested the whole hip-hop community to stand up to this together or else the MCAI won’t even flinch to do the same again.
