Lionel Messia has been ruled out of the upcoming Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 trip to Metz on Wednesday which also made people doubtful for a reunion with Pep Guardiola next week.
The Argentinian striker underwent an MRI scan on Tuesday morning which revealed the signs of bone contusion in his left knee. A new test will be done after 48 hours to re-examine its condition.
Messi was replaced by chraf Hakimi after 76 minutes against Lyon on his first ever home appearance since being transferred from Barcelona. The team won the match with 2-1 score, however the star striker is set to score a goal for his new club.
The French giants confirmed the knee injury and shared the update on their official website. “Messi, following the blow received on his left knee, underwent an MRI which confirms the signs of bone contusion,” the update read. “A new test will be carried out in 48 hours.”
“The priority is always the players and their well-being. We thought the best decision was to take him off. But of course, all champions want to be on the pitch all the time.”
