Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the Countach LPI 800-4 in a futuristic limited edition to pay homage to the iconic status of Countach as a revolutionary design. The new-age model will retain some of Countach’s old look with a touch of modernity.
The car will feature an aspirated V12 engine combined with Lamborghini’s own hybrid supercapacitor tech. The V12 6.5 litre engine has been combined with a 48-volt e-motor that has been mounted directly on the gearbox.
The massive engine generates 769 hp on itself which adds on with an electric motor of 34 hp which takes the total power of the car up to 803 hp. The power will be delivered to all four wheels via a seven-speed gearbox.
Lamborghini’s hybrid supercapacitor technology which powers the e-motor provides three times more power compared to a lithium-ion battery of the same weight, as claimed by the luxury automaker.
As per Lamborghini the car can accelerate to 96 kmph in 2.8 seconds and can touch almost 200 kmph in just 8.6 seconds marking the new model as the fastest Countach ever.
Lamborghini chief technology officer Maurizio Reggiani said the their engineering team pushed towards maximizing performance with unexpected innovations in a production car.
“That spirit inherently drives Lamborghini R&D, resulting in the pioneering hybrid technology in the LPI 800-4, and the emotive driving experience and top-line performance expected from a flagship V12 Lamborghini,” he adds.
