It is been confirmed that Kanye West and Drake’s Larry Hoover concert was a scam, no proceeds produced from the concert will be donated for charity as promised earlier.
Kanye Omari West is an American rapper, record producer, and fashion designer. Kanye gained recognization in the early 2000s for Roc-A-Fella Records. In 2004 Kanye founded the record label GOOD Music for commercial success.
Kanye’s music is recognized as highest-selling among the world. As a fashion designer, West collaboration with famed brands like Nike, Louis Vuitton, The Gap and A.P.C. Kanye is among the world’s best selling music artists, with over 160 million records sold.
Aubrey Drake Graham is a singer, rapper and actor from Canada. By the teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation Drake came into recognition. In 2006 by the mixtape Room for Improvement Drake’s music career was pursued.
The debut studio album Thank Me Later, released in 2010, debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. Drake achieved major critical success with taking Care and commercial success with Nothing Was the Same.
Kanye and Drake’s concert “Free Larry Hoover” concert was held in LA, in support of the gang killer Larry Hoover. Larry is considered the most powerful and bloodthirsty gangster in Chicago. He has been condemned to six life sentences in Colorado at the ADX Florence prison.
The two rappers performed together on December 9, at a special benefit show in Los Angeles. The proceeds from the tickets sold will reportedly be donated to a selection of criminal justice reform groups. In collaboration with Balenciaga designer Demna and Amazon Fashion, a range of limited edition merch was made for the concert. The Merch included a hoodie, t-shirt, jumpsuit, jeans and a hat, each with the slogan “Free Hoover” written on them. The price of the items was ranged from $60 (£45) to $360 (£271).
On December 10 the items went on sale with 72-hour window shopping. The audience showed a positive response towards the concert. The funds raised by the selling of tickets will benefit various criminal justice reform groups, but it is still unclear the funds generated via merch sold will go.
