YouTube sensation Jake Paul has stated that he would not give British star Tommy Fury another chance at the fight against him implying he has closed every door for him.
Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury was earlier scheduled for 18th December however Fury reported having a chest infection and a broken rib due to which he dropped out of the fight.
With just two weeks to go for the fight, it was hard for the YouTuber to just cancel the fight completely making all the efforts and training go in vain. He managed to get his last opponent who was longing for a rematch Tyron Woodley on board for the fight on such short notice.
In a statement revealing the reason for the sudden withdrawal from the fight, Tommy Fury said, “I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib.”
He expresses his desire to get the fight rescheduled sometime next year. “I can’t express how disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to happen more than anything.”
Jake Paul on Tommy Fury Dropping Out
Training wholeheartedly for over three months and your opponent just dropping at the last moment is definitely one of the most heart-wrenching moments.
Gutted by this, Jake Paul expressed his frustration during his conversation with TalkSports. “The door is closing. He’s not reliable, he is faking his injuries. What’s stopping him from doing it next year? In a cynical way. I wanna leave him in the dust and never give him this opportunity again.”
Looking at the situation and seriousness of the injury, it is fair to say Fury was not ducking the fight and simply was forced to drop out.
