Kanye West recently released his much awaited DONDA album after numerous delays. Initially the album was scheduled to release in 2020, however due to many reasons the album kept delaying.

The 10th studio album from West is named after his mother, Donda West, who died in 2007 following cosmetic surgery. The latest album marks as his first album since last release Jesus Is Born in 2019.

The first track on the album ‘Donda Chant’ which sees Kanye West and Syleena Johnson coming back together decade after their last collaboration for one of the most memorable Hip-Hop songs of the 2000s.

The intro track features Syleena Johnson doing nothing but repeating “Donda” over and over for 52 seconds straight, with no beat, melody, or real rhythm. As a result many of the listeners made fun of the track or skipped it at all.

However some close listeners pointed out that there is a deeper meaning behind “Donda Chant.” According to The Neighborhood Talk, the rapper has included a hidden tribute to his late mother.

“Symbolism includes the 58 times ‘Donda’ is said (her age before passing) and the rhythm of the words may represent her heartbeat,” summarised by the firm on behalf of fans.
