One of the largest social media platforms Instagram was spotted testing a change to its stories feature last month, but now the Meta owned company has officially launched a live test of 60-second videos in Stories.
This will mean that the earlier problem to splitting longer clips into 15-second segments, and played across various Stories frames will be eradicated. This will help the exponentially growing creator base on Instagram to express more freely.
When asked about the new update, the company said in a statement, “The ability to create longer Stories posts comes highly requested by our community. We’re excited to be testing 60-second Stories so that people can create and view Stories with fewer interruptions.”
The company says that the option is currently in test with a small group of users. The feature will be made available publicly for everyone with more creative freedom, and further integrating the app’s various video options to improve its creative tools and functions.
This comes after a while back Instagram chief Adam Mosseri talked about integration of features. “We’re looking about how we can – not just with IGTV, but across all of Instagram – simplify and consolidate ideas, because last year we placed a lot of new bets. I think this year we have to go back to our focus on simplicity and craft.”
