On 17th May Sunday, FIR was filed against Faizal Siddiqui for promoting a disturbing video on TikTok. The old video shared by Faizal Siddiqui that promotes and normalizes Acid attacks has gone viral now, creating an uproar on social media.
Who’s Faizal Siddiqui? Faizal Siddiqui is a TikTok star with 13 million followers and brother of self-proclaimed Influencer ‘Amir Siddiqui’, who was recently in dispute against Carryminati. As YouTube took down Carry’s video his fans are furious and took shots on Faizal Siddiqui’s video that glorifies Acid attack.
A cyber complaint has been filed against ‘Faizal Siddiqui’ for allegedly promoting an acid attack on women where he throws water on girl’s face after rejection. Later the girl is seen with injuries on face in the video expressing it as an acid attack. This video went viral on social media with trending hashtags like ‘Ban TikTok’ and Faizal Siddiqui ‘Acid attack.’
The chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma appealed to TikTok wrote a complaint to take down the video and remove Faizal’s account from tiktok. She also warned to take the case to police regarding such videos on TikTok.
One of the guy named Ashish on twitter also filed a FIR against Faizal said, “I have filed complaint Faizal Siddiqui for the tiktok video promoting acid attack towards our women. This type of act shouldn’t be promoted and strict action should be taken.”
In India, violence and Acid attack on Women are one of the major problems. And such videos by Social Media influencer who has a huge fan base can have a great impact on minds of people watching it. It was a shame to normalize such events in a video while women in our society is still fighting against such toxicity.
The people on twitter are outraged, appealing Cyber security to take strict action against Faizal Siddiqui.
Faizal Siddiqui reacted on his Instagram says “I am not interested in any kind of controversy and apologize to anyone who was hurt by watching the video.”
