Popular rapper Drake is partnering with Live Nation Canada to launch a new live entertainment venue in the superstar rapper’s hometown of Toronto.
The new venue will be named as History which will open its doors later this year, as announced by the entertainment company on Tuesday June 8.
The venue will have the capacity to hold 2,500 people and will “offer artists a versatile and intimate destination to perform and connect with fans in Toronto,” along with plans to host 200 concerts and events annually, according to Live Nation Canada.
According to reports, History has been under development for over three year now, with the construction scheduled to finish later this summer. The venue is located at 1663 Queen Street East.
“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History,” Drake revealed in a press release. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”
Drake shared the logo of History with coming soon, along with a peek at the venue. With this post he also shared the backstory of how he named the venue ‘History.’
“We saw an opportunity to bring Toronto a great new venue, and we have so much gratitude and respect for Drake teaming up with us to bring it to life in the best way possible,” said Michael Rapino, President and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment.
