In a leaked call surfaced recently, Donald Trump, president of the United States, has urged Georgia’s top election official to recalculate the state’s presidential election results in his favour.
The hour long audio was secured by The Washington Post. In the call dated on Saturday, 2nd January, a leaked telephone conversation with President Trump and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of Georgia and others brought into light that the president tried to pressure officials to overturn the vote count in his favour. He lost the results in Georgia by a margin of 11,779 votes.
Since the election was called out in the favour of rival Joe Biden, Trump is in denial & has been constantly trying to turn things. He has refused to accept his loss to President-elect Mr Biden. Greed is Good.
Georgia had already conducted several audits and recounts of the result, which affirmed Biden’s victory, and officially certified those results, which will be approved by Congress on January 6.
Despite this, President Trump told Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in the call: “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.” In case you never heard how desperation sounds like.
He also said in the phone call that, “The people of Georgia are angry, the people in the country are angry … And there’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, that you’ve recalculated.”
Raffensperger responded: “Well, Mr President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong.”
He even said that if Brad Raffensperger and Ryan Germany do not find thousands of ballots illegally destroyed in Fulton County – for which there is no evidence of occurring – it was a “criminal offence”.
“And you can’t let that happen. That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer,” Trump said.
Before Washington Post released the recordings, Trump tweeted about his talks with Georgia official claiming he did not get answers and the officials were clueless. Who said loss is a poor thing.
Raffensperger tweeted a response saying, “Respectfully, President Trump: What you’re saying is not true. The truth will come out”.
