TikTok has been seen as a security threats by many nations. Due to anti-China movement spreading all over the world and the ongoing pandemic, many nations are taking this issue seriously.
Recently, President Donald Trump has announced that he is banning the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok in the US. He told reporters he could sign an executive order as early as Saturday.
Now, President Donald Trump issued executive orders that would ban TikTok and WeChat form operating in US in 45 days if they are not sold to an American owned company.
President Trump also asked to give a piece of deal from TikTok to the US Treasury Department.
The order regarding TikTok prohibits after 45 days “any transaction by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with ByteDance Ltd.,” the Chinese company that owns the social media platform.
If no deal is done within the given period of time, then none of the apps or services associated by TikTok as well and WeChat will be allowed in the United States.
