Recently the Ahemdabad’s Montreal Stadium was decided to be renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium. This decision received mixed reaction from the netizens on social media. The matter became a political issue and the opposition leaders have expressed their displeasure over the renaming of the cricket stadium in Gujarat.
Now on 24th of February, Tom Holland took on to Twitter to share his opinion about the renaming of Gujarat’s Motera stadium. The author tweeted, “I’m a huge admirer of the modesty Modi showed in naming the world’s largest cricket stadium after himself (sic).” He then added, “Not always a good sign for countries when leaders start pulling that trick…(sic).”
Well the Tom Holland we are talking about is not the Spider-Man actor; he is an English author who has published best-selling books on classical and medieval history. Additionally he is also a cricketer and avid cricket fan.
Mistaking the cricketer for Tom Holland the actor, users started cancelling the upcoming film Spider-Man. This move was even called out for spreading ‘international propaganda.’ Before anybody could clear things up, our beloved Spidey became ‘anti-national.’
Here are few of the heated tweets from the users.
A lot of users got the difference and were mocking netizens who started the trending hashtag of boycott spiderman. Take a look at few of those tweets too.
