Another shocking news for Bollywood, a 53-year old actor Asif Basra has passed away. As per reports, Asif was found dead in a private complex in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. SSP Kangra Vimukt Ranjan had confirmed to news agency ANI that, “Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala”. Suicide is suspected and the cause of suicide is yet to be ascertained. A forensic team is still investigating the matter.
A 53-year old, Mr Basra was born in 196, Maharashtra, Amravati. He moved to Mumbai in 1989 to pursue his acting career. Asif Basra was a popular actor well-known for his role in Bollywood films like Jab We Met, Black Friday, Kai Po Che, Krrish 3, Ek Villain and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. He also played a priceless role in the thriller series Paatal Lok and Hostages.
The untimely demise of Arif Basra gave Bollywood another jolt, the news shook the whole industry. Actors, filmmakers and many expressed grief on social media when the news of the death was reported. Actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anushka Sharma, Hansal Mehta, Emraan Hashmi, Swara Bhasker, Divya Dutta and others took to their social media account offering condolences at the death of actor Asif Basra on Thursday.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta was one of the first to express grief on Twitter, “Asif Basra! Can’t be true… This is just very, very sad.” Manoj Bajpayee, in shock, wrote “What? This is too shocking!! Shot with him just before Lockdown!!! Oh My God!!!”. Filmmaker Onir wrote, “In shock. Cant believe that we have lost him. #asifbasra Used to meet him so often at the park jogging. He would tell me not to jog sideways, I might loose balance and hurt myself.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma paid tribute on social media. “My sincere condolences to the family and prayers for the loved ones. RIP Asif Basra,” Anushka Sharma. “Rest in peace Asif Basra. Heartfelt condolences to family and loved ones,” wrote Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The investigation is still on. May his soul rest in peace.
