American actor Alec Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun on the set leading to the death of a cinematographer along with a director has been left injured. During the filming of the upcoming western film Rust this incident happened.

Baldwin shot Halyna Hutchins, the photography director of “Rust,” and Joel Souza, the film’s director on the set at  the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Thursday.

She was immediately flown to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque with the help of helicopter, however she was  was pronounced dead by medical personnel as said by the authorities.

The second person involved in the incident, Souza was taken to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center via ambulance. He is still undergoing treatment for his injuries. Actress Frances Fisher confirmed on Twitter that “Souza texted me that he’s out of hospital.”

The sheriff’s office stated that as of now there are no charges filed but they are investigating the shooting and interviewing witnesses. “The investigation remains open and active,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Executive director Rebecca Rhine and president of the International Cinematographers Guild gave a statement of cooperating with the investigation.

“We received the devastating news this evening, that one of our members, Halyna Hutchins, the Director of Photography on a production called ‘Rust’ in New Mexico died from injuries sustained on the set,” the statement read.

“The details are unclear at this moment, but we are working to learn more, and we support a full investigation into this tragic event. This is a terrible loss, and we mourn the passing of a member of our Guild’s family.”
