UFC fighter Tyron Woodley recently explained why he appreciated Dillon Danis for spreading the ‘no knockout clause’ rumour from his first fight against YouTube star Jake Paul.
A few months back, after Woodley’s loss to Jake Paul by split decision, BJJ world champion and MMA fighter Dillon Danis took to the internet to claim that the pro boxing match between the pair was rigged.
Danis alleged that Jake Paul only managed to win the fight against Woodley because their fight contract contained a ‘no KO clause’ where the UFC fighter was not allowed to knock out Paul.
Talking about the same during his latest appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, UFC journalist, Tyron Woodley actually thanked Dillion Danis for making such claims as it helped him get more money from the contract.
He questioned why would anybody consider Danis a valid source for such confidential information. “Why does he [Dillon Danis] become a valid source to anybody? T-Wood continued, “If people wanna talk about stuff, I’m gonna let them talk about it. That’s how the sport works; whether it’s good or bad. Like, I’m not on Jake’s PR team.”
“It ain’t my job to give him credibility and like, make people believe that he’s the real deal; that’s his people. And people who think there was some knockout clause, based upon Danis who – how would he have access to my contract?”
Further, when asked about the no knockout clause claim, Woodley mentioned that because of the rumour, Paul and his team agreed to pay him an extra $500,000 if he KO’s YouTuber in the rematch.
“No, but it’s a clause [in the rematch] that says if I knock him out, they give me some extra cheese on my macaroni. And you know what, I wanna thank Dillon, actually, because he made that dumba** remark. Now, son, I get more money.”
