The 18-year-old singer JoJo Siwa called out Nickelodeon claiming that it is stopping her from performing her own written songs on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour which will begin in January after being rescheduled in the light of the global pandemic.The upcoming tour supports her two recent EPs: 2018’s D.R.E.A.M. The Music and 2019’s Celebrate.
However on Tuesday, the performer took to social media to express her frustration over the entertainment company. She wrote, “I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs)… Nickelodeon told me today that I’m not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show.”
“These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???” she added.
In the follow up tweet JoJo Siwa wrote, “There is no reason that this music should not be included. Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it’s not.”
JoJo’s latest musical film. The J Team was produced by Nickelodeon Movies and debuted on 3rd September on Paramount+. Many fans speculate the reason for preventing her from performing her songs is to do with their contract.
As of now the entertainment company Nickelodeon has not publicly addressed JoJo‘s claims.
