A 26-year-old, GauravZone (Gaurav Sharma) is an Indian YouTuber known for social, daily life and entertaining vlogs his YouTube channel “GAURAVZONE” with currently f4.15 million subscribers.
But the jolly YouTuber has been arrested by Delhi Police on the grounds of animal cruelty. In one of his recent videos, Gaurav tied several balloons on the back of his dog, in an effort to allegedly make it fly in the air, at South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar last week.
The video showed Gaurav Sharma standing on top of the car with his dog tied to multiple balloons. As the YouTuber lets go of the dog, it starts floating and goes up to the second floor of a building. Watching this video, officials from ‘People For Animals’ filed a complaint against Sharma at Malviya Nagar police station.
After viewers criticised the video, Gaurav immediately removed the clip and uploaded an apology video where he said that he took “all safety measures” during filming. He also claimed himself to be a ‘pet lover.’
DCP (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said they received a complaint from PFA about the YouTuber risking his pet’s life. “We registered an FIR under sections of the Disaster Management Act and Prevention to Cruelty to Animals Act. The accused, a resident of Panchseel Vihar in Malviya Nagar, was arrested, but released later on Thursday evening, as it is a bailable offence. He told us he is a YouTuber and made the video for his channel,” said Thakur.
An FIR has been registered under Section 188, Disaster Management Act (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and Section 11(1)(A) and Section 11(1)(D) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
